On May 10th, 2006 Alisyn had the opportunity to take a tour and sail on the world's fastest sailboat, ABN-AMRO One. The ABN-AMRO is competing in the Volvo Ocean Race 2005-2006, a 10 month race around the world. The ABN-AMRO One competing in the race. Alisyn comes aboard the ABN-AMRO One. Alisyn is given a tour of the sail boat. Alisyn learns that the race lasts for 10 months, sometimes  at sea for over 20 days, and there is no shower on board. Alisyn, stay up wind of those guys! Alisyn takes the wheel and gets some tips on how to steer from the ship's Captain. LOOK OUT, ALISYN! Those are pirates! This steering stuff is easy!   That barge is going to get out of the way, isn't it? Alisyn returns to port, now an 'old salt'. Alisyn greatly enjoyed this assignment and had a great time! A sad post note. On May 18th, the ABN-AMRO One's sister ship, the ABN-AMRO Two, lost one of her crew during the ' The New York to Portsmouth' leg of the race. The 32 yr old crew member Hans Horrevoets was washed overboard and perished. This website would like to express our sympathies to Han's family, friends and fellow crew members.
