Is Alisyn Married?
Yes, to a fabulously handsome, smart, super nice guy

Children?

Two beautiful little girls, fraternal twins

Do you consider yourself a romantic?
I am simultaneously a romantic and a realist (I'm a jourmalist- part storyteller, part objective observer)

How do you stay so fit?
How do i stay fit? Luck and good genes. I love food but I am not crazy about exercise.

What is the origin behind the way you spell "Alisyn"?
The spelling of Alisyn is all my father's doing. He wanted a unique take on my name before I was born. And, as far as I know, I was the first person to have this spelling. I occasionally now see young girls with the spelling and I wonder...

What kind of music do you like? What are your favorite bands?
Ok, in terms of music, I'm stuck in the 80's. I am all about the Ramones, Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, Squeeze, The Smith, Sex Pistols....I also have a warm place in my heart for Alice Cooper.

What do you do when not hosting?
Well, because I have a hybrid job (anchor/reporter), when I'm not hosting, I'm usually writing or researching a story. I spent much of this morning with a producer trying to figure out how to report on a story when many of the main protagonists are not in the U.S. I also try to catch up on emails, expenses, mail, phone calls, etc.

Which do you prefer, anchoring or reporting?
I like both reporting and anchoring. Whenever I do one for a stretch, I miss the other. Reporting is more challenging in many ways because it's harder to be in the field than in the studio. There's nothing quite as complicating as wind and snow -- standing in a Nor'easter is always tougher than sitting in a warm, comfy studio. However, in the field you're in charge of your own script and reportage.
On shows like FOX & Friends, you have to rely on others for much of your info and research, which makes me a little uncomfortable. Being tethered to the teleprompter is also less than ideal but I do love breaking news when we're scrambling to bring accurate info to the viewers.

Of all the stories you covered, which one means the most to you and why?
The stories that affected me the most were the two I covered for "America's Most Wanted" on child molesters and their victims. In both stories, horribly tragic crimes were commited at the hands of repeat offender pedophiles, yet the victims' families transcended tragedy and fought back (through the courts and state legislature) and got justice.

Have you ever refused to do a story or interview someone?
I once refused to do a story at "America's Most Wanted" because I wasn't convinced of the fugitive's guilt. I feared the police did not have all the facts to support going after this particular suspect. My bosses agreed.

What became of that man?

If I'm remembering correctly (and it was many years ago), the fugitive I refused to profile was actually a woman. As I mentioned, I doubted the police's story that she was singlehandedly responsible for a brutal murder. I thought that she, along with a group of her friends, killed a neighbor as a possible retaliation for raping her. All of her cohorts had been convicted of lesser crimes but she was looking at a 1st degree murder sentence and the death penalty. I didn't believe she was any more guilty than the rest of them and possibly less. As for the ultimate outcome, I think she was eventually captured but not as a result of AMW.

Is American U in a rough neighborhood in Washington D.C.?
American University is in a beautiful section of Northwest D.C. Northwest is the quadrant that is generally considered to be the safest in the city. And Washington has changed a lot since I lived there. Back then, it had the dubious distinction of being the Murder Capital of the country with more than 400 murders per year (if memory serves correctly). That time has changed: violent crime and crack-related crime has gone down. Now Washington is a lovely city. And I recommend American University's School of Communication to you. They have some terrific professors.
